The Kingdom Players, a
touring drama ministry team
led by Dr. Jay Critz,
present exciting, humorous,
and dramatic skits based on
the Bible. Audiences are
inspired and refreshed as
the actors bring the message
of God's Word to life. The
skits cover a broad range of
topics, including prayer,
commitment to God, child
abuse, unforgiveness and
abortion. Some draw out
inconsistencies that exist
in people's lives and
encourage them to change;
others vividly portray
Biblical characters,
incidents, or stories. They
also perform pantomimes,
human video, and
choreography.
Since the Players perform a
series of short skits, the
length of services can be
varied greatly, usually from
about a half-an-hour to an
hour-and-a-half. In
addition, the Players do not
need any extravagant sets or
props; everything they use
consists of hand-held items
brought by the team. This
ministry, then, is very
flexible, both concerning
time and space. It is
important to note that the
Kingdom Players have no set
fee; they go completely on a
love offering basis. This is
the 12th year of ministry
for the Kingdom Players.
Last year the team traveled
from northwestern Indiana to
Florida and from Louisiana
to Massachusetts ministering
in churches, youth camps,
camp meetings, children's
programs, marriage retreats,
and schools.
According to Duke Stone,
Pastor of the Hickory Valley
Church of God of Prophecy in
Chattanooga, TN, the Kingdom
Players' drama presentation
“follows after the example
that Jesus used in
presenting the Gospel
through the
culturally-chosen means of
communication and
entertainment…parables or
stories.” Thus, in a
biblically sound manner, the
Kingdom Players strive to
minister the Gospel of Jesus
Christ through skits of
various themes and subjects
that will challenge viewers'
faith and encourage them to
lead a more Christ centered
walk with God.
